KNOW YOUR LEGACY - KNOW YOUR POWER "A People Without a Knowledge of Their Past is Dead" Knowing about one's historical legacy contributes to developing a healthy self-concept. Retrieving the heritage of the African past enables one to prepare for a bright future.
Upon the completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to: • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the history of Africa and the African Diaspora. • Comprehend the glorious history of ancient African civilizations. • Critically analyze the contemporary issues that impact Africa and its people. • Comprehend the values of African cultures and examine the contemporary ideals of African communities throughout the world. • Identify Africanisms that have been preserved within our families and communities • Create strategies to resolve the challenges that people of African ancestry face in the 21st Century. • Visit landmarks that are significant to the African and African Diaspora communities. • Develop the ability to teach utilizing African centered teaching strategies.
